Are these in your backyard?
Mushrooms - Several thousands of species grow all over America. They are especially fond of damp shaded areas of your yard and garden. With our continuous rain and humid weather, Florida yards and woods provide excellent opportunities for these fungi to populate. Fortunately only a few are toxic to animals but many can cause vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and lethargy. Poisonous mushrooms will cause these symptoms to occur within 15 minutes to two hours of ingestion. Always report these symptoms to your veterinarian and include a sample of the mushroom if an appointment is necessary.
The best preventative is to rid your yard of these risks and keep dogs away from wooded areas with potential for problems.
